Children’s sports day for orphans

As part of its ongoing social responsibility programme, Orco has continued its successful cooperation with selected children’s homes. The company organised a special children sports day for orphans on the second Saturday in September. Within its charity programmes Orco Property Group constantly tries to help those in need and the activities are not limited solely to material help, rather the company strives to give children an opportunity to experience unusual culture and sports events too.
The successful Saint Nicholas event from December 2006 was now followed by a sports event that took place On Saturday 8 th September, at Měřín area, Slapy Dam, in the presence of children from children’s homes in Pyšely, Dlažkovice, Litoměřice, Krompach and Žíchovce. Almost 200 children and their carers had the opportunity to enjoy a day full of sports activities, games and entertainment. Aside from sports activities there were uncommon attractions such as jumping stilts, hovercraft, segway carts etc. The children were divided into several teams which were differentiated by colours. Each team had its own instructor which was its guide at every sports spot during the whole day.
Besides the above-mentioned activities and sports competitions there was also an opportunity to use the indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi, attend salsa lessons with a professional teacher and take a trip on a steamboat around Slapy Dam. The whole day was hosted by popular moderator Lejla Abbas accompanied by the band, Jam. During the summer all children’s homes participated in a photo contest called “My Favourite Building“. The best photos were exhibited during the day at the location, and everybody could vote for his/her favourite picture.
The highlight of the whole event was a bike trial exhibition of Vlasta Čiháček, the champion of the Czech Republic and Central Europe. The performance, which several children took part in, was a big success. The whole day culminated with an announcement of the best sports team and individual, which scored the most points throughout the day. The authors of the three best pictures, selected by a professional photographer, as well as a further three selected for an audience prize, were awarded. Among the prizes were a Swatch sports watch, electronic dartboard, karaoke set etc. Orco plans to use the winning photos for its calendar in 2008.
