Rainer Bormann

Rainer Bormann, CEO of ORCO Germany S.A.CEO, ORCO Germany, S.A.

Rainer Bormann was born in Berlin, grew up in the former East and West Germany and in Tunisia where he passed the French "baccalauréat". Then he studied economics and finance at the Institut d’Études Politiques in Paris.

Rainer Bormann started his career as a sales representative with the Barings investment bank in Paris (1993 – 1995) and later in London. Then he worked for ABN Amro and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette (DLJ) and from 2001 to 2003 he was in charge of the Asian Equity division at Lehman Brothers working throughout Europe and based in London and Frankfurt. He played a decisive role in the company's expansion into the Asian market. As many stock markets in Asia are primarily focused on the real-estate business he gained in-depth knowledge of property cycles, real-estate firms and how to evaluate them.

In 2004 Rainer Bormann decided to return to Berlin. Impressed by the city's pioneering spirit and openness, he founded ORCO Germany, a subsidiary of the ORCO Property Group, to take advantage of the historic opportunity that the Berlin real estate market has been offering and is still offering today.

Following rapid growth in the residential property area, he started to build up the commercial property, asset management and project development divisions (e.g. Fehrbelliner Höfe in Berlin Mitte, Haus Cumberland on Kurfürstendamm). This resulted in the acquisition of Viterra Development, acquiring not only a portfolio of renowned properties and projects in 5 German cities but also a team of highly qualified real-estate experts. In Berlin alone the project development portfolio amounts to about 260 million euros.

The objective of ORCO Germany is to build a long-term, successful but responsible leading real-estate company based on sustainable investment and project development with Berlin being the company's main investment target.

Rainer Bormann is married to a French woman and has two children.
